Holiday Half Race Recap: Part 2 of 2

Started out my Sunday morning with a gorgeous drive out to Pomona…in my groove and happy to be heading to the race! You can’t hear anything in the video but check out those beautiful mountains in the background! 👀🤙🏼

Once I got there I met up with my fellow Ambassadors for some pre-race pics! My fav was this one of race announcer Rudy Novotny photobombing us! 😬

We started the race off with another snow start!!

It was magical and so fun to go through!

Here are some of the rolling hills along the start of the course.

More gorgeous views of the mountains in the background! 😍

Here is my pro tip for you when going through the water station…

Found some dirt to run on! I’m not allowed to run on the pavement yet (ACL reconstruction was done on my left knee in August).

We ran right past Raging Waters!

We went through a park which provided lots of opportunities for me to run on the grass and dirt. 👍🏽

I loved the course – very peaceful with plenty of rolling hills to keep you engaged!

Getting closer…

…and back to the raceway at mile 12 before heading to the finish line at 13.1!

I received my Holiday Half Marathon Medal AND the coveted GOLDEN SNOWFLAKE CHALLENGE MEDAL!! ❄️

It’s HUGE and it’s BEAUTIFUL!!!

Here’s a pic of all 3 medals together.🏅🏅🏅

Post race beverage! ❄️🏅🏅🏅❄️

I had a blast at the Holiday Half and will definitely be coming back next year!

Holiday Half Race Recap: Part 1 of 2

I had the honor of being an Ambassador for the Holiday Half Marathon this year. I opted to take on the ❄️”Golden Snowflake Challenge,”❄️ which consists of completing the Ugly Sweater 5K on Saturday & then finishing the Half Marathon on Sunday. The incentive?? Bragging rights & extra BLING!🏅🏅🏅

I arrived at gate 9 the Fairplex in Pomona and parking was plentiful and easy to access. Once parked, it’s a short walk through the entrance to the festivities.

There are several photo opportunities available for you to strike a pose…we love a good silly pic! Even Santa showed up for pics! They were handing out beanies for everyone and a bonus ornament picture frame medal.Race Ambassadors - Me, Tam & Megan One of my favorite things about this event is that everything is easy to get to and in one central location. Packet pickup & bag check was quick and right there next to all the action, making it super convenient for those who didn’t wanted to carry their race shirt and other swag during the race.

Another fun feature of this race is the “snow” start!

The race starts inside and heads out to the Auto Club Raceway which is surrounded by mountains…loved it!

Thankful for another gorgeous day in Southern California & making it to the finish line!

😍 the medal so much…pictures don’t do it justice! It is so pretty and twinkles like crazy with all the silver glitter on it. Pictured with it is one of the two beanies that Motiv Racing gave away.

Here I am after the race with fellow Ambassador Tam & Ambassador Program Liaison Daryl…💜 these ladies!

After the 5K, it was time for the kids 1 mile Penguin Dash! Both my girls were in the first wave…

Starting line stretches to get the blood moving!

This is a FREE race for kids up to 12-years-old. Medals awarded to all participants…and they are super cute!

💜💜💜LOVE IT!!!!!💜💜💜

2017 Global Energy 10K, 5K Long Beach Race Recap!

We had a great time at the Global Energy 10K/5K race last weekend in Long Beach!

We got there around 6:45 am and the line to get into the parking lot took us about 20 minutes just to get into the lot but once we were in, parking was plentiful and we made our way across the street to the race expo & starting line. Thankfully, I had already picked up our bibs the day before. Tip for next year…get here earlier as they suggested!

My crew was made up of my 2 girls (Kyra, 11 & Ava, 10), my niece & nephew (Chase, 12 & Cash, 14), my friend Brandy & her daughter (Paige, 10) and myself!  Team, “Be Happy <3” was geared up and ready to put 5K in the books!

There were tons of vendor booths lined up along the grass and the energy and vibe were all positive.  We lined up at the start and off we went! Here are some snippets from my SnapChat –> gononerz.

After the race, we hit up the Bimbo booth where they were giving out free bags of bagels and sandwich bread. We celebrated Chase’s amazing first race…she is 12 and ended up 3rd overall for females and 1st in her age division in the 5K with a stellar time of 22:11!! Super proud auntie moment!!!

The weather was just *perfect* and the turnout was amazing!  Great views of the Queen Mary & Shoreline Village.  I spotted a seal swimming around right around this area!

Great swag…we got all this and more! Dri-fit T-shirt, finisher’s medal, armband cell phone holder, coolie towel, bag plus a hat or visor at the event!

It was fun getting a chance to meet up with other Ambassadors like Tam! Love her positive energy and infectious smile! 😁

Lots of families were there…little kids, big kids, old & young!  It was so great to see so many kids getting involved…makes me happy. 🐝😊.

Thanks for a great event, very organized, family friendly & great swag especially for the price! My only suggestion would be to have race photographers there to capture the moment but thankfully I have my iPhone for that! Looking forward to attending again next year, hopefully as an Ambassador again.

Run Seal Beach 10K

We had a blast running this race!  It was fun to see some familiar faces in the crowd.  We ran into some of the teachers from our school as well as some softball friends.  This race is right down the road from us and maybe next year we will ride our bikes!

Here we are before the race…I HAD to laugh at Ava, making faces & gestures behind Kyra’s back!  You gotta love little sisters and their antics, lol!

One last hug before the race starts!
The race started and as expected, Kyra took off ahead of us!  I stayed back with Ava who was struggling the first half of the race.  I pushed her (sometimes literally) through the beginning but once we approached the riverbed, she hit her stride and started running strong ahead of me, all the way to the finish!

Both my girls won their age division…they were the only one in them!
That says a lot for just showing up!
